The Scoop at More London Free Festival – Fringe – June

Week 4 - Unexpected Opera Company present Offenbach’s Orpheus Down Under
Adapted from Orpheus in the Underworld
Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
23 – 25 June
7pm
The Scoop at More London

How will Eurydice escape the suburbs and her intolerable husband, Orpheus?  What’s it like to go down under with the King of the Underworld?  Can Team Olympus out-do themselves?  And is the barbecue sauce on Bondi beach really better than ambrosia?

Offenbach's delightfully disrespectful tale loses none of its pith and verve in this uproarious updating. A couple on the verge of divorce become entangled with the Gods and Goddesses of Greek Mythology, who are themselves embroiled in international competition as 'Team Olympus.' Full of charming songs and witty dialogue, it is performed by a cast of 12 and live musicians. Enjoy a global romp with the opera that introduced the world to the can-can!

“an unconventional Orpheus, but a thoroughly irresistible one. If this company comes this way again, do catch them” Oxford Times 2010
